Publication De Gelderlander of 11 March 2024

On 11 March, newspaper De Gelderlander published an article about one of our full professors. This is our reaction to it.

As a university, we have a responsibility to take good care of all our students and staff. That is why the university sometimes has studies conducted into the state of affairs within a team, department or between employees. We communicate about such studies with those directly involved, the team or department and, if possible, work together to improve.

Even in the case of the study referred to by the Gelderlander, the information was shared with those directly involved and the board is in contact with those involved. We do not discuss this through the media, but where it belongs, within our organisation. This is in line with our concern for all those involved and contributes to a pleasant and safe working environment.

Following the results of a study, arrangements are often made to resolve any problems, in the interests of all concerned. Since diligence takes precedence over speed in this process, it sometimes takes longer than we would like.

With the Prevent - Care - Cure plan, the university is working on a more streamlined process to be able to act carefully and at the same time as quickly and unambiguously as possible in such circumstances, which are experienced as negative by all parties involved.

The anonymous nature of the sources in the article makes it difficult for those involved to relate to it.
