On the opening day, visitors can experience a full and varied programme for young and old with interesting lectures, interactive experiments and inspiring exhibitions. A small overview of the programme:
- At the Brain Museum, visitors will take an interactive journey of discovery through the world of brains, behaviour and science. Discover how your brain processes information, and check if you can tell the difference between human and animal brains. There is also a special installation by Hung Lu Chan: using meditation and AI, the artist explores how we form our ideas about aliens.

- Philosopher Cees Leijenhorst and moderator Noortje Schonck will engage visitors in a discussion on various topics. How can we protect our children and ourselves from the dangers of the digital world? How best to deal with envy? And why is it so important to keep hope?

- In the Urban Leisure Lab, everyone can think along about the Nijmegen leisure economy: what do we like to do in our free time, and what tips do you have for tourists and fellow Nijmegen citizens?
- Various activities are planned for children, including language games by Kletskoppen, a maths walk through the city and an accessible exhibition on slavery in Curaçao.
And in addition, anyone curious about the special, historic building can also walk in to take a look. The opening is free to all, from 11:00 to 17:00 on 30 November.
About Radboud University in the Latijnse School
The Open Day is a small preview of the activities to be found in the Latijnse School in 2025. For students and staff of Radboud University, the venue is a place for meetings and new collaborations with residents, businesses and organisations from the city. The full programme will be announced in the near future. Already, alumni can drop in monthly at the Career Lab, and lectures and book clubs will be organised by Radboud Reflects.
The Latijnse School on St Stevenskerkhof was built around 1544. This makes it the oldest school building in Nijmegen. During the centenary of Radboud University, in October 2023, the university received a gift from the municipality of Nijmegen: the university may temporarily use the Latijnse School. Radboud University will take up residence there until January 2026.
