Radboud University students win Young Talent Awards

The Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (KHMW) annually awards exceptional achievements within different disciplines through many different awards, one of these being the Young Talent Awards. In November 2024, this honor has been awarded to not just one, but two students of Radboud University.

Coen Schoof won the award in the field of Data Science, for his master thesis ‘EmoBack: Backdoor Attacks Against Speaker Identification Using Emotional Prosody’. Wietze Koops, who was an ELLIS Excellence Fellow in 2022, won the award in the field of Computer Science for his master thesis ‘A* Algorithms for DEC-POMDPs’. Both projects were awarded the first place within their field, resulting in a prize of €3.000 per project.

Aside from the Young Talent Award, Wietze was also awarded a prize for his work by the Benelux Association for Artificial Intelligence (BNVKI). BNVKI works to stimulate research on, and the application and education AI, as well as the dissemination of knowledge about AI.
