Renewed plant-based Refter burger by Beyond Meat

During the National Week Without Meat, more than 1,600 Beyond Meat Burgers were handed out. And guess what the accompanying survey completed by 350 people did show: over 92% of you would like to see the plant-based burger on The Refter menu. A convincing number! Therefore, the burger is on the menu at Angus as our standard.

You can order the updated Refter Burger at Angus corner: with or without cheese, single or double deck. A panel of tasters already did so: check out the first reactions on Instagram. For those who can't get enough: Beyond Meat will also be present with a food truck at the introduction market on 19 August.

Since 2009, Beyond Meat has been creating products that have the same taste and texture as animal meat, but offer some great environmental benefits. Their brand promise, Eat What You Love™, represents the strong belief that there is a better way to protect our future, and that all the positive choices we make – no matter how small – help.

Toward 80% plant-based

This belief closely reflects the sustainability goals of Radboud University. Our daily food choices have a significant impact on the world around us – and therefore play an important role in realizing a more sustainable campus. We choose seasonal and natural products from close by, we keep food waste to a minimum and we promote choices that benefit the environment. This is the reason that the plant-based burger slightly cheaper than the beef variant.

At the moment 75% of the food on offer at the university's catering outlets is vegetarian or plant-based – and the catering completely vegetarian. Together, we work towards a minimum of 80%. Do you want to know more? Take a look at the webpage about sustainability in food and drinks.
