PhD student and civil law lecturer Roma Leuyerink has received the Association Intellectual Property (Vereniging Intellectueel Eigendom, VIE) Award at the Intellectual Property (IP) Symposium. She won the prize with her article 'The principle of national treatment and VOD compensation'.

Every year, during the IP Symposium, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) presents the VIE Prize to a young author of a publication that makes a substantial or innovative contribution to the knowledge and understanding of intellectual property law or unauthorised competition law in the Netherlands.

Leuyerink won the prize with her article 'Het beginsel van nationale behandeling en de VOD-vergoeding' (The principle of national treatment and VOD remuneration) published in 'Auteursrecht'. In her article, she takes a closer look at the position of non-EU filmmakers on the introduction of a statutory mandatory proportional equitable remuneration for video on demand (VOD).
