University libraries and other organisations will maintain existing subscriptions to these journals. The pilot will investigate whether these subscription fees cover this business model. Should it turn out that this is not the case, the publications from the pilot period will remain open access with a CC-BY licence.

S2O pilot AIP journals
Publisher American Institute of Physics (AIP) is launching a Subscribe to Open (S2O) pilot for two journals: Journal of Applied Physics (JAP) and Physics of Plasmas (POP). Scientific authors will be able to publish open access in both journals at no extra cost by 2024.
