Saskia Lavrijssen new Dean of Nijmegen School of Management

On 1 March 2024, Saskia Lavrijssen will be appointed as the new Dean of Nijmegen School of Management. She succeeds Interim Dean Michiel Kompier.

Since 2015, Lavrijssen has worked as a Professor of Economic Regulation and Market Governance of Network Industries at Tilburg University. Her expertise lies in the regulation and governance of a fair energy transition.

She is also the Director of the Tilburg Institute for Law Technology and Society (TILT). At TILT, she was involved in establishing and supervising several interdisciplinary partnerships. She also contributed to strategic and financial reforms within the same organisation. Lavrijssen believes that we can create societal impact by connecting the right research groups, several disciplines, and societal partners. She is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Avans University of Applied Sciences, and a member of the Mining Council, an advisory board to the Secretary of State of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy.

Ambitions

“Nijmegen School of Management is unique in bringing together five disciplines that are all essential for understanding major societal challenges and devising solutions to accelerate sustainability and energy transitions,” says Lavrijssen. “The Faculty is and remains ideally positioned to play a leading role both nationally and internationally in regular Bachelor's and Master's education, lifelong learning, and research in the field of responsible governance for sustainable societies. This inspiring Faculty mission forms the basis for further collaboration, both within and beyond the Faculty.”

Besides her experience, she also brings ambitions: “I want to continue building a sustainable, healthy future for the Faculty with an open, inclusive, and safe working culture. To be attentive to the diverse talents and backgrounds of employees, and recognise and value different roles within the University, that is essential if we want to foster an inspiring and open research and teaching climate.”

Rector Magnificus José Sanders: “This particular combination of administrative experience, interdisciplinary view and strong ambitions that are closely aligned with Radboud University's mission gives us great confidence in Saskia Lavrijssen as the new Dean of Nijmegen School of Management.”
