Rare Jongens seizoen 2

Season 2 Rare Jongens is online now (Dutch only)

The housing shortage, the U.S. elections, globalization: there are still plenty of topics for the Rare Jongens to look at with the eyes of the Romans. It's about time for a second season of the successful podcast series from Radboud University, the Faculty of Arts from Radboud University and the University of the Netherlands. The first episode is online now.

In Rare Jongens (Dutch) historian Olivier Hekster (Radboud University) explains how the Romans dealt with things we also deal with today. Together with Merijn Doggen (University of the Netherlands) he looks at our times through the eyes of the Romans.

'After one season and over a quarter of a million listeners, it didn't feel like we were done,' says Merijn Doggen. 'Look for example at the distrust in the government or the housing shortage, these are issues the Romans also had to deal with,' Olivier Hekster adds.

New: Roman help with listeners' personal problems

In Helpdesk Rome, Olivier delves into Roman writings in search of solutions to listeners' personal problems. So do you have relationship problems? Stress? Can't sleep? Olivier is going to help you. 'I can't guarantee that Roman methods really work. They might even make your problems worse, but I'm going to do my best,' Olivier explains.

Rare Jongens is a collaboration between Radboud University, the Faculty of Arts from Radboud University and the University of the Netherlands. Episodes will appear bi-weekly starting 3 seppember in Apple Podcasts, Spotify and in other podcast apps.
