Seminar series by Conflict Resolution Institutions

The Conflict Resolution Institutions research group, part of the Law Sector Plan, is organising a new seminar series in 2023.

Institutions for Conflict Resolution / Conflict Resolution Institutions (COI) is a research collaboration between Utrecht University, Leiden University and Radboud University. As part of its activities, the COI research group organises seminars throughout the year for researchers interested in current and innovative topics related to institutions for conflict resolution. During the seminars, international speakers present their work, followed by questions and discussion. Themes include the changing role of judges in conflict prevention and resolution, the role of alternative pathways and non-public actors, and how societal challenges such as climate change or digitalisation affect conflict resolution institutions. The seminars are organised on a rotating basis at each of the three universities and are delivered in a hybrid format: online via Microsoft Teams and in person, on the campus of the host institution.

The first seminar will be given on Tuesday 31 January by Professor of European Law Rick Lawson (Leiden University) and is entitled 'The European Court of Human Rights: reading between the lines'. This session will be organised at the Leiden campus and can be viewed online.
