Elsevier Best Studies
Elsevier Best Studies compares university programmes annually based on students' assessment of their programmes. It uses the results from the National Student Survey (NSE). Study programmes that excel on several aspects compared to study programmes in the same field of study qualify for a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal.

Awarding of medals
Study programmes that score one standard deviation above the sector average on at least 4 out of 11 'satisfaction questions' earn a medal:
- At 4 or 5 scores above average: a bronze medal
- At 6 or 7 scores above average: a silver medal
- At 8 or more scores above average: a gold medal
