Sixth edition 'God in the Netherlands'

On 13 April, the KRO-NCRV show Kruispunt will spotlight the newest edition of the study God in the Netherlands. On 25 April, the study will be presented in book-form at a symposium at Vrije Universiteit. The latest edition of this long running study was conducted by Paul Vermeer and Joris Kregting.

The first edition of the survey God in the Netherlands was published in 1966. Since then, the survey on religious developments in the Netherlands has been repeated about every ten years. In 2024, Paul Vermeer and Joris Kregting conducted the latest edition of the survey. The results will be discussed on 13 April in the KRO-NCRV's Kruispunt and in a public book to be published on 25 April (symposium VU).

The latest edition of God in the Netherlands builds on previous editions and outlines what has happened in the Netherlands in terms of church religiosity in recent decades. Moreover, it also pays extensive attention to the consequences of these developments. Does religion still function as a social binding agent and moral guide, and have alternatives replaced it?
