Søren Larsen publishes first English translation of Johannes Kepler’s ‘Dioptrice’

Søren Larsen has published the first English translation of Dioptrice, Johannes Kepler’s groundbreaking work that laid the theoretical foundation for the modern telescope.

Larsen’s achievement makes this seminal Latin text accessible to an English-speaking audience for the first time. In addition to the translation, he added an introduction detailing the historical context, content, and impact of the book.

The publication was celebrated on 21 May, when Søren Larsen proudly presented the first copy to Dean Sijbrand de Jong, an occasion marked with a large Dioptrice Cake.

The translation is published Open Access by Radboud University Press. It is available as a hardcopy or can be freely downloaded.
