NOLAI Meet-up maart 2025
NOLAI Meet-up maart 2025

Spoiler alert: the Meet-up will be inspiring!

On Thursday 25 September, the NOLAI Meet-up will take place in De Vasim in Nijmegen. It promises to be an inspiring afternoon with a festive touch. The programme has now been announced, and we are happy to give you a sneak preview. The highlights: we will present our new magazine AI in Education, NOLAI director Inge Molenaar will give a stimulating keynote speech and there will be interactive workshops. There will also be a project market where you can view no fewer than eighteen ongoing projects.

Keynote Human-AI collaboration

The Meet-up would not be complete without a stimulating keynote speech from NOLAI director Inge Molenaar. The keynote speech “Human-AI collaboration in education” focuses on three topics: educational AI, the learning-performance balance and the changing role of teachers.

  • Educational AI is fundamentally different from generic AI: edu-AI has been developed for education specifically. What are the differences exactly, and what trends do we see in Europe regarding educational AI?
  • The learning-performance balance is a concept that had become very timely with the advent of generative AI in the classroom. Whereas previously effort, performance and learning were linked, this is no longer the case with the advent of generative AI. It is now possible to perform well without effort and without learning. How do we deal with this?
  • The collaboration with Ai and the subsequent change in teachers’ roles takes two new forms: complementation and augmentation. AI will not replace teachers in the future, but it will complement and enrich them. What will that look like?

AI in Education Magazine

We are proud to present the latest edition of the NOLAI Magazine AI in Education during the Meet-up. Here is a sneak preview of the cover. The magazine will provide an overview of the latest developments and insights regarding educational AI for primary, secondary and special education. It is also packed with interviews with project leaders, companies, teachers and even students! Participants in the Meet-up will of course receive a copy of the magazine to take home with them.

Interactive workshops

Meet-up visitors can choose from various workshops:

  • Experience the difference between language models for yourself: Privacy, quality and sustainability, by NOLAI “Techies” Julian van der Horst and Harm van Stekelenburg.
  • Changing competencies of teachers, by Pierre Gorissen, leader of the scientific focus area Professionalisation and training.
  • From practice: Waiting for the teacher more efficiently with AI, by Heleen Kamphuis, project leader from this co-creation project, IT teacher and nominee for Teacher of the Year 2025.

Upon arrival, visitors to the Meet-up can choose a ticket for one of the workshops. The number of places is limited, and once they’re gone, they’re gone!

Registration closed

Due to high interest, we had to close the registration process early. Didn’t get a ticket? Don’t worry! There will be another Meet-up on Thursday 1 October 2026, so save the date!
