As of 1 September 2025, Bartels took up his new position in the civil law section of the office of the procurator General. On 2 July 2025, Bartels was welcomed by King Willem-Alexander, after which he was sworn in before the King. Bartels will remain a professor at Radboud University.
Steven Bartels appointed Advocate General at the Supreme Court of the Netherlands
On 24 March 2025, the Council of Ministers approved the appointment of Steven Bartels, professor of Civil law, as Adovcate General at the Supreme Court of the Netherlands.
