How can science help bring an end to war? In the three-part documentary series ‘Ready for War’ by the NTR on NPO 2, Petra Grijzen investigates in Ukraine how children cope with war trauma and what impact conflicts have on society. She discusses this with, amongst others, Niels Terpstra, assistant professor in Conflict Studies at Radboud University.
Terpstra explains how peace negotiations can be successful: by breaking the process down into small parts, signing partial agreements and then moving on to the next part. In this way, you can set aside issues where you get stuck, without this immediately affecting the entire peace negotiation process.
