The theme ‘Time to grow’ emphasises the need to connect and experience together; together with students, teachers and educational developers from different educational institutions. It is a picking garden for all education professionals. This year's sessions revolve around the following three sub-themes: growing in understanding each other, growing as adaptive professionals and room to growth for students. The organisation encourages creativity and looks for interactive, applicable sessions that have a direct impact on educational practice.
Picture this: it is the first day of April. It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and you are looking forward to this day. You step into the beautiful venue of the Experience Centre. The green carpet is rolled out for you and upbeat music fills the space you walk into. You look around and immediately feel this is a place to grow and where you take your time to grow. On the left of the festival square, you see colleagues from the various educational institutions gathered at the coffee bar and on the right you see a curious performance by some artists. Your gaze is drawn to a green oasis you see in the distance. What would happen there? You first decide to take a look at the programme for this first day. The choice is tantalising; do I go for a student ‘potkas’ on performance pressure? Will I ‘tree’ with peers during a walk past work labs? Or do I join the theatre hall for a surprising session ‘where seeds are planted’ for training an adaptive professional? In any case, there is plenty of opportunity in the programme, including for excercise and meeting. Today and tomorrow, I will enjoy this picking garden of education and take time to grow!
