The Evening of Chemistry

Our institute encourages staff and students from the chemistry field to join the KNCV 'Evening of Chemistry' on Thursday evening 5 October 2023.

Chemistry is hot. KNCV is celebrating this on Thursday evening 5 October with the 'Evening of Chemistry' in theatre De Lievekamp in Oss. To tie in with #100yearspharmafuture, this year's theme is pharmacochemistry.

Programme

Three prominent chemists are invited to talk about their research and field of work on the theatre stage. Professor Patricia Dankers talks about designing and developing intelligent plastics that can be used to induce tissue repair. Professor Sjaak Neefjes gives a presentation on detoxifying anthracycline; a commonly used chemotherapy. And chemist and entrepreneur Floris van Delft (Head of R&D Synaffix) talks about the route Synaffix has taken and the choices it has made along the way, consciously or unconsciously. Besides top speakers from chemistry, the evening offers an exciting awards gala in which the KNCV puts young talents in the spotlight. To conclude the evening, audience prize winner of the Cameretten Festival 2019 Tobi Kooiman will act in a cabaret performance.

Spotlight prize

During the theatre evening, the Spotlight prize competition will take place. Are you, or do you know an enthusiastic PhD student who wants to present his/her/their research in a creative and accessible way? Then enter the competition! Send in a short video (1 minute) about yourself and your research before 14 September, and who knows, maybe you will be chosen to pitch your research during the Evening of Chemistry. More information can be found here: www.jong.kncv.nl/spotlightenglish
