Associate Professor of Legal History Vincent van Hoof, also vice dean of Education at the Faculty of Law, will hold the temporary professorship of the Journal of Private Law (Tijdschrift voor Privaatrecht) at KU Leuven in academic year 2023-2024.
The Journal of Private Law annually awards a number of Belgian-Dutch exchange chairs. In the coming academic year, Van Hoof will hold this chair. As part of this exchange chair, he will deliver a speech at KU Leuven to accept the exchange chair and conduct research and teach there for several periods. At the invitation of colleagues Wouter Druwé and Inge Van Hulle, Van Hoof will teach on security rights in a legal history perspective as part of the subjects Roman Law and History of Private Law. The inaugural lecture in the context of the Chair will focus on the meaning and application of the publicity principle in the discussions (past and present) about security interests in a historical-comparative perspective.
