Tom Elfring to step down as dean of the Nijmegen School of Management

As of 1 March 2023, Tom Elfring will no longer be the dean of the Nijmegen School of Management. For personal reasons, he would like to work less during the last year before his retirement. Tom Elfring will remain associated with the faculty and will conduct research and teach as a professor for three days a week.

Rector Magnificus Han van Krieken: “The Executive Board is grateful to Tom Elfring for his contribution to the faculty and to the university, and we are delighted that he will stay on at the university as a professor. We wish him all the best, professionally and personally.”

Tom Elfring “I look back with pride on what we have managed to achieve together in our faculty these past few years. The faculty has grown substantially. There is a new mission and vision, founded strongly on the importance of collaboration at the faculty and interdisciplinary levels. We can use these to respond to current developments in society in a way that distinguishes us. It was an honour for me to be able to contribute to this as dean. I will continue to do so with pleasure, but as a professor instead. At the same time, the faculty is facing various challenges. Significant steps need to be taken in the upcoming period, which will demand dedication and focus. It is up to my successor to take these next steps in the development of the faculty. I would like to thank all the colleagues and students whom I have collaborated with.”

The Executive Board will consult with the faculty in its search for a new dean of the faculty. The Executive Board will appoint an interim dean for the period from 1 March until a new dean has been selected. The Executive Board will relay more information about this prior to 1 March.
