In the preliminary phase and in the settlement of insolvency proceedings, public law facets play an important role in addition to civil law aspects. In particular, this applies to aspects of taxation and collection of taxes with respect to the insolvent debtor, including related (tax) parties. Tekstra is a specialist at the interface where tax law and insolvency law meet. He currently works, among other things, as a lawyer and tax adviser at Blauw Tekstra Uding N.V. in Amsterdam.
In 2011, Tekstra obtained his doctorate in Nijmegen with the thesis 'Set-off by the tax authorities'. Earlier, he was a member of the State Commission on Insolvency Law (Commissie Kortmann), which advised the Minister of Justice on the revision of insolvency law. In 2016, he was awarded the Prof Dr D. Brüll Prize for his publication 'The taxman in private law'.
Tekstra: 'It is a great challenge to further explore this developing area of law in research and teaching.'
