Webinars ‘Month of AI in Education’ available for rewatch

Last June, the ‘Month of AI in education’, three special webinars took place. NOLAI’s researchers and teachers in residence provided a short overview of the themes educational research, technology and data, and ethics.

Did you miss these webinars, or would you like to look into the information again? Below you can find the video presentations and slideshows.

Educational research about AI in education

This webinar from the 20th of June talks about the current scientific situation regarding AI in education from a pedagogical-didactical and professionalising perspective. Evi Topali and Oana Costache (researchers) and Wouter Jansen (teacher) present their findings. Below you can view the video of the webinar and download the slides:

AI technology and data in education

There is a lot of speculation about AI in education in the Netherlands. What is scientists’ opinion on this issue? Is national or international research being done? And what knowledge did that provide? NOLAI keeps track of this every year.

AI technology and the sustainable handling of data is an important point of interest in the development of AI for education. In this NOLAI webinar from Tuesday 11 June, Kilian Geryszewski (teacher) and Job Doesburg (researcher) help you catch up! What’s the current state of affairs?

Ethical concerns regarding AI in education

AI keeps getting a bigger role in education. It is expected that smart technology can improve the quality of education by enabling tailored education, decreasing teachers’ workload, and improving access to learning materials.

At the same time, AI in education comes with a lot of ethical concerns. For instance, the growing influence of big tech companies on education, decreased autonomy for teachers, and the loss of meaningful human contact.

To deal with these concerns, organisations across the world have developed guidelines for using AI in schools, with recommendations for the responsible use of smart technology. These guidelines are being investigated withing NOLAI. During this seminar of 18 June, Kevin van der Pol (teacher) and Yuri Tax (researcher) talk about the results of this investigation.
