Welcome Rafael!

We welcome a new PhD candidate at Grammar & Cognition, Rafael Soto Setzke. His research project is concerned with the language of pain. More specifically, he wants to investigate how pain-related cultural differences between different ethnic groups of Bolivia (South America) reflect in their language use and structure. For this purpose, Rafael is planning a field study that will gather data on pain expressions and terminology in Bolivian Spanish and Quechua. Through his research, he wants to help break the language barrier between Spanish-speaking medical practitioners and Quechua-speaking patients.
