Paul Hazard Foundation

The Paul Hazard Foundation supports the funding of dissertations and other scholarly publications and activities in Cultural History by young researchers, particularly at Radboud University. The Foundation exists through donations from those who care about cultural history research in Nijmegen.

The Foundation aims to promote cultural-historical research by Nijmegen and Nijmegen-affiliated researchers from around 1500 to the present, building on the tradition of the Pierre Bayle Institute, founded by Professor Hans Bots. The Foundation is named after the French Historian Paul Hazard, whose La crise de la conscience européenne (1935) was and is an important source of inspiration for cultural historians, especially those from Nijmegen.
