“Seven years ago, at the beginning of my student days, I started my food blog. I got the hang of cooking pretty quickly and also found it loads of fun to do. Of course, social media back then were not the same as today. I did it mostly because I really enjoyed it. As I kept blogging, the account also started to grow. This made me want to invest more time in it as well. It has now even come to a point where I have quit my job, for me to start food blogging full-time from 1 January!
I definitely feel that my change of studies helped me with this. I started studying to become a Dutch language teacher at HAN and subsequently worked as a Dutch teacher for one year, but I soon found out that this was not for me. I was 21/22 years old at the time and I noticed that I didn't really want to work yet either, but wanted to explore more possibilities. Partly thanks to my interest in blogging, I started the Pre-Master's and then Master's programme in Communication Science at Radboud University. I soon realised that this was where I really belonged. I'm really glad I made this switch.
The only advice I have for other students is to do something you like. With hard work, you can truly achieve anything. Dream big!”
