FTP stands for 'Functional Threshold Power' and indicates the average power output (in watts) you can sustain while cycling for 40 to 60 minutes. This value helps you determine your personal training zones for use during a spinning class.
Ticket hour Spinning FTP test
The FTP test is offered every two weeks on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM as a ticket hour Spinning FTP test. The test begins with an explanation and a thorough warm-up, followed by a 20-minute effort during which you try to cycle as hard as possible. Only RSC members can make a reservation for a Spinning FTP test ticket hour.
Spinning experience required
We advise participants to only take the FTP test once they have at least six months of spinning experience. After that, a test frequency of twice a year is a good guideline for monitoring your progress.
Preparation fitness tests:
- A fitness test takes 60 minutes and is very intensive.
- Make sure you rest well and do not exercise intensively within 24 hours of the test.
- Make sure you have drunk enough water beforehand.
- Make sure you have not eaten too much within 3 hours before the test (a light lunch or snack is no problem).
- Wear comfortable sportswear and bring water and a towel.
- The test bike is suitable for regular sports shoes and cycling shoes with spd.
