Business Economics

The section Business Economics deals with questions related at the intersection of economics and business. It also hosts the Accounting and Control group that focuses on the role of information exchange and governance structures in the management and coordination of an organization's stakeholders. Research interests are in the financial and non-financial reporting by organizations to outside stakeholders, having a keen eye to increasing societal demands for transparency, integrity and environmental disclosure. The section also focuses on how organizations manage the goal-oriented behavior of their management and employees. It applies quantitative, qualitative, and interpretative research methods, and uses theoretical insights from psychology, sociology, philosophy and economics. The broad understanding of accounting and control is displayed in the section’s research, which spans a wide range of topics and has found outlets like Organization & Environment, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Accounting and Business Research.
