The section Financial Economics is part of the Economics and Business Economics Section. Its members conduct research in various fields of finance. The section is particularly strong in behavioral finance, experimental finance and behavioral decision making. Researchers have recently published in the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Review of Finance and other prestigious outlets. Connections exist to researchers from other groups on topics related to behavioral economics in particular in the domains of risk perception and preferences, health economics, sustainability, and digital transformation as well as to the Hot Spot Integrated Decision Making. The members of the section further play an active role in the Society for Experimental Finance, illustrating the section’s global visibility. Financial Economics also regularly organizes workshops, for example on sustainability, risk perception or decision making for others.
The section offers teaching courses in all areas of finance and on all levels. These include, for example, corporate finance, risk management, financial regulation, the functioning of financial markets (price formation etc.), financial innovation, and of course behavioral and experimental finance. All members of the section regularly supervise bachelor and master theses.
