Cultural historians study the way people in the past have attributed and added meaning and values to their lives and to society. The Cultural History Expertise Group focuses on cultural-historical processes of social inclusion and exclusion in leisure, sport, art, science, church, care, politics and law.

Research
The Cultural History Expertise Group's research focuses on the period from 1500 to the present. We pay particular attention to the cultural contacts between the Netherlands, Europe and the world. Themes studied within the expertise group include music and theatre culture, colonial politics, emotions and senses, tourism, consumer culture and sports history. The research is embedded in the Radboud Institute for Culture and History.
