Career Service Faculty of Arts

Career Service Arts advises students, recent graduates (alumni within six months after graduating), study associations and and study programmes of the Faculty of Arts on finding a suitable job and preparing for it. The career officer does this through individual conversations, workshops and events and (digital) information provision.

Students can also get started on their career orientation through:

Internships

Doing an internship is a great way to learn about your education in practice. This way you reduce the gap between studying and working, and an internship is a perfect springboard to the future. In addition, you expand your network and gain (more) insight into your own abilities and interests. The handout ‘In conversation with a potential internship organization’ provides practical information to help you arrange a suitable internship.

If you study at the Faculty of Arts, you can contact Career Service Arts for all information about internships, both about internship contracts and about a suitable offer for all courses within the faculty. There are two options for doing an internship:

Internship as a (compulsory) part of your study programme

An internship is part of your study programme when you fulfil it as part of a course (part) or minor or elective space, and it therefore falls within the set number of ECTS of your study programme (generally 180 ECTS for a Bachelor and 60 ECTS for a Master).

You can always consider to do an internship abroad. For a compulsory internship, you will find all the information in the study guide and course environment of the relevant course.

Extracurricular internship

Perhaps you are experiencing delays in your study programme or you simply want to gain more experience. An (extra) internship can then be a nice addition. Would you like to do an internship, receive supervision from the university and have the internship mentioned on your degree certificate? Then opt for an extracurricular internship of 15 ECTS. Are you interested in this? Please contact Career Service Arts by sending an e-mail to careerservice [at] let.ru.nl (careerservice[at]let[dot]ru[dot]nl).

Internship process

Please note: Do you want to do a (research) internship to replace the think tank? Then seek approval from the examination board before starting step 1.

Step 1: Make sure to register in time in Osiris for the corresponding internship course in the right academic year.

Step 2: Have you found an internship? Submit the application for approval via OsirisCase no later than 6 weeks before the start of your internship. Find out how to apply for internship approval.

Step 3: Have you completed your internship? Have the report and any other final products assessed by your teacher supervisor via OsirisCase. Find out how to request an internship assessment

Does you internship take longer than expected? It might be possible to extend your internship. Fill out this form to request an extension (pdf).
