The Radboud Teachers Academy provides teacher training programs for university students who want to become a teacher in secondary education, in collaboration with the faculties of Radboud University and the surrounding schools. In addition, the teachers academy provides professionalization courses for secondary school teachers and school leaders.
To strengthen and scientifically substantiate education of the teacher training programs, the Radboud Teachers Academy has its own research program, entitled: Innovative Learning and Teaching. Why innovative? Because it goes without saying that student teachers and novice teachers adopt new ways of learning and teaching, and also because research often focuses on developing new learning processes and learning outcomes, and the relationship between them.
The researchers at the Radboud Teachers Academy do not operate alone in their research. They often depend on partners in higher and secondary education. The research is focused on that context. Schools and teachers often also conduct research themselves, and we expressly try to link up with them. In addition, didactic research in particular is strongly related to new insights from the scientific fields, acquired by the researchers of the university faculties. We always look for connection and cooperation with this. In addition to the principle of teaching together, the Radboud Teachers Academy honors the principle of researching together.
