Radboud Women Professors Network

Club / group / network

The Radboud Women Professors Network was created by women professors at Radboud University in 2001. The network brings together women professors from both Radboud University and Radboudumc to promote the position of women in academia. The network encourages and facilitates the exchange of experiences, mutual support and advocacy of women staff.

Winners of the RNVH Jubilee Prize 2025 announced

During the celebration of International Women's Day on Monday 10 March, four female scientists received the RNVH Jubilee Prize. The prize, which consists of a certificate and 1000 euros, was presented by Rector Magnificus José Sanders.

Objectives Radboud Women Professors Network

The Radboud Women Professors Network has set itself the following objectives:

  • Exchange of experiences and mutual support;
  • Introduction of new female professors;
  • Representation of the interests of female employees at Radboud University
  • Monitoring the progress of emancipation policy and targets
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion in a broad sense
  • Drawing attention to the intersection of gender discrimination with other forms of discrimination (in particular on the grounds of ethnicity, religion and disability)
  • Providing unsolicited advice to the Executive Board and the deans
  • Nominating suitable female candidates for vacancies and for committees, steering groups, etc.
  • Identifying discrimination on the basis of gender (and, where applicable, in conjunction with other forms of discrimination) and measures that promote unequal treatment.

In order to fulfil these tasks, the network meets every quarter.

Activities

RNVH Jubilee Prize

Every two years, the Radboud Women Professors Network awards a prize to outstanding female scientists who obtained their PhD no more than five years ago. The prize is worth €1,000, which can be spent as the winner sees fit.

Every year, the Radboud Women Professors Network organises the Women in Spotlight conference in honour of International Women's Day.

Chair

Prof. Inge Bleijenbergh is professor of Action Research, specialising in equality, diversity and inclusion. She obtained her PhD in European social rights at VU University Amsterdam in 2004 and has been working at the Methods section of the Faculty of Management Sciences in Nijmegen since 2006. She is co-editor of the Oxford Handbook of Diversity in Organizations and has written several books on qualitative research methods.

Vice chair

Prof. Karen Stegers-Jager has been professor of Innovative and person-centred learning and working in healthcare at Radboud university medical center / Radboud University since 2023. Through research and teaching, she focuses on equal opportunities for all medical students. She is one of the authors of the Higher Education Selection Handbook and a member of the national Expert Group on Accessibility to Higher Education.

Secretary

Sharon Reuselink is a management assistant at the Department of Work and Organisational Psychology, the Behavioural Science Institute and FSW FacBureau MOA.
