Did your mood this morning influence whether you took an umbrella or cycled through a yellow light to make it on time? Many of our everyday choices involve risk. Beyond how people perceive probabilities and payoffs, a critical, but methodologically challenging question in decision science is whether, and how, a person's mood influences their risky decisions. In my RUM I will present data from a large naturalistic sample of 11,626 museum visitors, where we investigated the link between participants' incidental mood and risk-taking, as assessed in a gambling task.
