Donders (f)MRI Toolkit - From Acquisition to Analysis

Are you looking to expand your expertise in cognitive neuroimaging or have recently started doing (f)MRI research? Join us this November for the Donders (f)MRI Toolkit, an intensive five-day course designed to equip researchers at all levels with both foundational knowledge and advanced techniques in MRI and fMRI.

For over three decades, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has been a cornerstone of neuroscience. Today’s increasingly complex research questions require not only deeper theoretical insight but also hands-on experience with the latest analytical tools. This course offers both, providing a comprehensive, practice-oriented program that spans the full neuroimaging pipeline: from signal acquisition to sophisticated population-level analysis.

A Comprehensive and Hands-On Program

The course is structured in three progressive parts, delivered over 5 days:

Foundations: MR Physics

The first part covers the fundamental MR physics required to generate MR signals and images, with particular attention to the physical mechanisms underlying fMRI contrast, potential sources or artifacts and the ability to generate quantitative maps that give you insight into tissue microstructure.

Analysis: From Model-Free to Model-Based

The second part of the course focuses on functional MRI analysis, introducing both
model-free and model-based processing strategies. Participants will be exposed to advanced analysis approaches, including brain decoding.

Innovation: Future Directions in (f)MRI

In the final part, the course explores advanced applications and future developments in fMRI, ranging from ultra-fast, high-spatial-resolution imaging to emerging combinations with other neuroimaging methodologies. We will also have hands on the latest trends on dataset organization, sharing, and merging using normative modelling techniques.
