Join us for a talk and a discussion session on the powerful role of smell in health and cognition!
Smell plays a vital role in our daily lives, from enjoying food and detecting danger to supporting emotional well-being. When smell is reduced or altered, it can be an early warning sign for cognitive decline or a biomarker of metabolic disorders like obesity. Dr. Sanne Boesveldt will present some of her past work in the area of olfaction and eating behavior, as well as present her exciting new Vici-project which will explore how we can use our sense of smell to promote better health. She plans to investigate whether smell training can improve cognitive function, and how new weightloss drugs may change smell and eating habits. The results may guide new treatments and dietary advice for dementia and obesity.
