Donders Medal awarded to Tildie Stijns during retirement celebration

In recognition of her exceptional contributions to the Donders Institute, Tildie Stijns was honored with the prestigious Donders Medal during her retirement event. The Donders Medal is awarded to acknowledge the entirety of an individual’s outstanding contribution to the DI over a longer time period and is in principle awarded when the individual leaves the institute. Tildie Stijns becomes the second recipient of this award.

Edward de Haan, the Scientific Director of the Donders Institute, had the honor of presenting the award and explained the committee’s considerations: ‘Tildie has been a key figure in building the DCCN and the DI as a whole, and maintaining a positive vibe with the friendly and social person that she is. She has been the ‘mother’ of the DI for many years, and for a long time it was the case that all roads in the DI led to Tildie. She has always been a proactive, super-motivated and highly skilled member of the DI team. While formally linked to the DCCN, she was willing to pull a lot of weight for the whole of the DI and was always willing to help.’

During the celebratory occasion, Peter Hagoort underscored the well-deserved nature of the award: ‘Her dedication to the center was impeccable, and beyond the call of duty. Always willing to help out, never saying it is too much, often taking responsibility and initiating events.’

In closing, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Tildie Stijns for being honored with the Donders Medal. As she embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her journey.
