Martin Dresler receives Vici grant for research on sleep

Martin Dresler has received a Vici grant from NWO for his research on sleep. His project, Sleep 2.0, is one of 43 research projects who have received this prestigious grant. Each researcher will receive a maximum of 1.5 million euros. The grant is intended for adventurous and innovative researchers.

With this grant, researchers are able to develop a new line of research and expand their research group for within the next 5 years. The Vici grant is one of the largest scientific grants in the Netherlands and is intended for experienced researchers. It gives them the freedom to conduct research on a topic of their choice.

Sleep 2.0: on to new knowledge about human sleep

Sleep is important for our health, but we do not yet fully understand how it works. In this project, Martin Dresler studies sleep in a new way. The project will use new concepts and methods to better study sleep. In doing so, the project uses wearable devices and help of citizen scientists to collect a lot of data and create an infrastructure to collect this data.

The goal is to better understand how sleep works, both in one night and over multiple nights. This could ultimately help to improve sleep and health, which is good for both people and society.
