Prediction Study – participants needed

One MEG session of 225 minutes to earn €56,25

Have you ever wanted to participate in an experiment where you just sit back, relax, and enjoy a good movie? This is your chance! In this study you will be watching a movie while we record your brain activity with magnetoencephalygraphy (MEG)!

What:

In this experiment you will watch segments of the movie “1917” in an MEG scanner, followed by a short minute MRI scan.

Why:

We are interested in how our brain represents naturalistic dynamic visual and auditory input such as you encounter in your everyday life.

How:

You will watch 42 minute segments of the movie “1917” two times in a row, so you will be in the MEG scanner for roughly 1.30h. However, the experiment will be cut up in 14 minute pieces will small breaks in between. You will be allowed to freely move your eyes during the movie, so no need to keep your eyes fixated. Additionally, we will measure your eye movements with an eye-tracker while you watch the movie. Last, after the MEG experiment we will walk with you to the MRI scanner and record a structural (anatomical) image of your brain, which will only take 15 minutes. This will help us to determine exactly from which part of your brain the MEG signals that we measured come. All in total the experiment including preparations and MRI scan would take you around 3:00h.

Where:

The experiment will take place at the Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging (DCCN)

Inclusion criteria:

  • MEG & MRI compatible
  • No dental wire
  • Normal vision, no glasses, lenses ok
  • Understanding of spoken English
  • Have not seen the movie 1917 yet
  • Right-handed
  • 18-50 years old

If you are in doubt about one of inclusion/exclusion criteria, please contact the researcher.
