Participate in research

Looking for an easy way to make a bit of extra cash? Curious about how your brain works? Or do you just want to do your bit for science? Then sign up to be a research participant at the Donders Institute!

To participate in our research, you will first need to register in our registration system, Radboud SONA. Once you have done that, you will be able to sign up to participate in various studies. There are many different types of studies you can take part in, varying in size and topic. Some last half an hour, others several hours. They investigate topics such as language, perception and memory. Everyone is welcome to sign up as a research participant ¬– students as well as non-students. In general, we are looking for adult volunteers (18 years or older) who are willing to take part in several tests. You can take part in more than one study at the same time.
Before signing up to participate in a particular study, please make sure you read the information about the study and the various methods used. You can always contact the researcher directly if you have any questions.

Depending on the experiment, you will receive between €8 and €10  per hour or a VVV voucher of the same value. For cash payments, we need your bank account number and your BSN. After participating, you will receive a one-off email containing a link for you to enter this information. All data provided will be treated confidentially.

All of our research and research methods are of negligible risk and have a minimal impact.

Our research takes place at the various research centres that are part of the Donders Institute. The institutes research different topics and are situated at various locations on the Radboud University campus:

Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging

The Donders Centre for Cognitive Neuroimaging investigates the inner workings of the brain. To do this, we use language tests, visual tests or auditory tests, for example.

Donders Centre for Cognition

The Donders Centre for Cognition investigates the brain, cognition and behaviour. To do this, we conduct experiments relating to language, perception, action or memory.

Donders Centre for Neuroscience

The Donders Centre for Neuroscience investigates the brain and behaviour. The institute has equipment that can measure behaviour (eye and head movements, reaction time) and brain activity using a variety of techniques. Experiments here may include visual, auditory, vestibular or motor tests.
