Run your experiment
If you are interested in running an experiment at Donders Citylab, please fill in the form below. You can find more information about running an experiment on Donders intranet, Donders Citylab GitLab or get in contact with us by filling out the proposal form on this page.
Donders Citylab offers a unique opportunity for scientists where research is taken out of the lab and towards the citizens of Nijmegen. The general public will have the opportunity to become research participants, and because of this, Donders Citylab provides a diverse population that is typically not easily available at the University setting.
Experiments
Currently, researchers have the possibility to carry out so-called micro-experiments.
Micro-experiments are conducted on touch-screen computer kiosks in the muZIEum’s exhibition lounge and consist of short educational and entertaining experiments. The experiments should take less than 5 minutes to complete and should not require extensive instructions. All muZIEum visitors pass through the exhibition lounge and, thus, have the opportunity to participate. An experiment on the kiosks yields approximately 600 responses a month. Therefore, micro-experiments provide an opportunity for rapid and large-scale data collection.
The Donders Citylab’s vision is to expand the locations for kiosks to other public spaces and to enable larger experiments in public spaces.
Organisation
The organisation of the Donders Citylab consists of a Citylab project manager, Citylab officer and Scientific Committee. Both the project manager and officer are part of the Donders Institute bureau. The Scientific Committee members are spread across the stakeholders of the Donders Institute.
- Citylab officer: Yvonne Kuiper
- Scientific Committee: Prof. A.G. Sanfey (Chair), Dr. M.V. Peelen, Dr. J.N. Vrijsen, Dr. W.T.J.L. Pouw
