Peer group meetings
During structured group meetings, 8-10 peers discuss their experiences and struggles, and help each other find solutions. A facilitator makes sure that a safe environment is created where everybody can share their thoughts and suggestions. You will be grouped with peers at the same stage in their career at the Donders Institute.
Becoming a peer
As a peer you will be an active part of the discussion how you and your peers can find new ways of dealing with challenges. Peercoaching is a great opportunity to get a different viewpoint on your challenges and to find new ways of dealing with them. You might also recognise yourself in the challenges of others and benefit from their experiences.
Peer as a PhD candidate
PhD candidates participating as peer in the peercoaching programme get a maximum of 14 hours (0.5 ECTS) per year, up to a maximum of 56 hours in total (2 ECTS) towards their Graduate School Certificate. If PhD candidates attend a minimum of 5 meetings per year they will be able to list peercoaching for the Graduate School Certificate. Attendance for meetings will be registered and used to credit the hours.
Becoming a facilitator
As a facilitator you play and active part in leading the discussions and making sure the peer groups gets most out of their meeting. A special training is offered to facilitators to improve their communication skills and help the peers to get the most out of their meetings. You will receive a certificate for following the training.
Facilitator as a PhD candidate
PhD candidates who participate as facilitator are allowed to count an extra 14 hours per year, up to a total of 84 hours (3ECTS), if they follow the required training sessions and follow-up meetings with the other facilitators.
