PhD Programme

Within the Donders Graduate School we offer PhD opportunities and a broad range of facilities to our PhD candidates.

Support and Supervision

Our mission is to guide our graduates to become skilled academics who are equipped for a wide range of professions. In order to achieve this we do our utmost to ensure that our PhD candidates receive support and supervision of the highest quality.

Graduate School Training

The Donders Graduate School provides a tailor-made training programme at the highest international level. The first step is to set up a Training and Supervision Plan (TSP) with the aim of developing both research and personal skills.

Monitoring programme Hora Finita

We provide an online checkpoint system, Hora Finita, which ensures you and your supervision team regularly reflect upon the progress in your PhD project. On a regular basis checkpoint meetings are scheduled to update the TSP throughout your PhD project.

PhD Council

Our PhD council also organises social activities for our PhD candidates. Every year they organise a summer and a winter event.

Support with career development

The Donders Graduate School considers it of great importance to ensure that our PhD candidates are equipped for a wide range of professions. To help our PhD candidates with this we offer support to this end in the last phase of their PhD project. We also organise a bi-annual career event.

The Graduate School Certificate

After fulfilling all the requirements of the Graduate School all PhD candidates are advised to apply for the Graduate School Certificate. This certificate shows all credits for the training the PhD candidate successfully followed.

Annual PhD conference: Donders Discussions

The Donders Discussions is an international neuroscience conference for PhD candidates organised by PhD candidates.

Interaction with guest scientists: Donders Lectures

The Donders Institute organises a series of Donders Lectures every year. A Donders Lecture is given by a famous international researcher. Before every lecture, PhD candidates will have the opportunity to have lunch with the lecturer.
