Support and supervision
Our mission is to guide our PhD candidates towards becoming confident and skilled academics who are equipped for a wide range of careers. To achieve this we, we place strong emphasis on high-quality supervision and structured support. Together with our Management Platform, we closely monitor the quality of supervision throughout your PhD track, ensuring you always have the guidance you need. As a PhD candidate at the Donders Institute, you will be part of one or more dedicated research groups and will work with a carefully assembled supervision team, chosen to complement your expertise and research focus.
Supervision that empowers
We believe that strong collaboration between PhD candidates and their supervisors is key to success. That is why we developed clear and practical PhD Supervision Guidelines designed to help you get the most out of your supervision when you are here. The following practices are encouraged:
- A team effort: Every member of your supervision team plays an active role in supporting your project.
- Regular Checkpoints: We strongly encourage scheduling frequent meetings, especially around the annual Checkpoint reviews.
- Ongoing reflection: These meetings are the ideal moment to revisit your Training and Supervision Plan (TSP), discuss your progress, and identify what is needed to stay on track.
