Study programme American Studies year 3
In the third year, you will follow four compulsory courses and you will write your Bachelor's thesis. In addition, there is a free space in which you can choose courses to further develop yourself and broaden your studies by taking courses from other programmes. Or you can choose to take the educational minor, which will qualify you to teach lower secondary education (havo and vwo) as well as vmbo-t education. An internship or stay abroad are also among the possibilities.

Studying abroad
Nijmegen is a wonderful place to study, but perhaps you would like to discover more places. That is possible! You can choose to study abroad and pick courses at a foreign university.
Interested in education?
Contributing to a better society can also be done in another way: You can use the free elective space to take an educational minor (taught in Dutch). This allows you to discover whether working in education is something for you and gives you the opportunity to obtain a 2nd degree teaching qualification next to your Bachelor's degree.

*In the third year, there is 30 EC of free electives. Students who stay in the Netherlands take 15 EC in the first semester and the remaining 15 EC of courses in the second semester.
Are you going abroad? Then you'll take all 30 EC of free electives in the first semester, at the partner university abroad. The second semester then consists of compulsory courses at Radboud University.
