Clara Maine is a bachelor student in Artificial Intelligence.

What is your previous education?

I went to a small high school which emphasized self-directed learning. When I was 17, I attended an early college programme called The Clarkson School where I did a year of university as my senior year of high school.

Why did I choose Radboud University?

I chose the Netherlands because I wanted to study abroad for my whole bachelor’s study, and Radboud’s AI programme included a lot of interdisciplinary courses where I’d be able to learn about topics like Neuroscience and Linguistics along with more technical computer science classes.

What are you looking forward to the most regarding coming to Nijmegen?

Independence. This is the first real time in my life where I’m living on my own, and although I’m far from my friends and family back home, I’ve built a nice social structure here where that’s not a problem.

Can you name a fun fact about myself?

I took classical Harp lessons for 10 years, my favourite book is Frankenstein, and I play a lot of Dungeons and Dragons.

What's your favourite motto?

“If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.” This motto is more of a reminder to myself to not miss opportunities because I’m too embarrassed to ask for them or afraid of rejection. It’s still something I’m working on, but I think I’m getting better.
