When I visited the campus and saw how green it was, I was sold. Plus, the Arts & Culture major just screamed "me".

What will you learn

Arts and Culture Studies attracts students who are curious about how to understand artworks in their cultural and societal context, and why views on the arts differ. It is for people who realise that political debates are often more about culture than about "the economy". What counts as art, and what doesn't? What does popular culture have to say about society, about differences between people, or about the meaning of 'Western' and 'non-Western'? And how can you organise an exhibition or festival for a broader audience? You will analyse cultural expressions found in novels, films, TV series, stage performances, music albums, and exhibitions. These are explored from a number of theoretical, historical, political, and social perspectives, incorporating European, American, and planetary views on culture.
