Study programme Bachelor's Chemistry year 3
The third year of the Bachelor's programme in Chemistry is made up almost entirely of electives. This gives you an opportunity to prepare effectively for your Master’s and to choose the direction in which you ultimately wish to take your Chemistry programme. You may choose to learn as much a possible within your field in Chemistry or you could opt for a minor programme (15 to 30 EC) with courses outside of Chemistry. Or you can choose to do an exchange semester abroad.
About this study curriculum
Apart from a few compulsory courses (9 EC) and your Bachelor's internship (12 EC), you can compose the rest of your third year curriculum based on what you feel best reflect your interests, what internship you'd like to do and desired Master's specialisation, such as Molecular Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemistry of Life or Physical Chemistry.

Your third year consists almost entirely of elective courses, which can be filled in various ways. Of the available 39 EC of elective space, at least 12 EC must be filled with elective courses in chemistry. The remaining EC space can be filled with general electives, a minor, or courses from other bachelor's programs.

Choose at least 12 EC from this list of Chemistry electives.
Minor programme (15-30 EC)
All Bachelor's programmes offer 15-30 ECTS space for minor programmes. The first semester of the third year is designated as a minor and exchange semester. You can, for instance, follow the Education minor (see at the bottom of this page) or the minor in computing science. Doing a minor programme reduces the number of elective courses you will have to take. Read more about minors for Chemistry students.
Electives (6 EC)
You can also choose courses from other bachelor's programs, within or outside the faculty.

An internship offers you the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience, expand your professional network and gain a clearer insight into your own skills and interests. It bridges the gap between studying and working and serves as an excellent springboard to your future career.
Within this programme, an internship is a mandatory component. You complete your third year with an eight-week bachelor's internship, in which you conduct independent research. Students from this programme have previously found successful internship positions at research groups at Radboud University. For example, you can learn how to develop new reactions or study molecules in the NMR lab.
