Why did you decide to study in the Netherlands? And why did you choose Radboud University?
I decided to study in the Netherlands because of the low tuition fees and the Dutch work ethic/mentality. I chose Radboud University because of the its high educational level.
How did you experience the transition from high school to university? How did the university/programme assist you with this transition?
It was a hard transition but thanks to the different assistance that Radboud University provides, like mentors and study buddies, it became easier.
What do you like about the Bachelor's programme and why? How has the programme challenged you?
I like that it is hard and challenging. Through the failures, you succeed.
No one likes playing a game where you always win!
What do you think about the atmosphere in class?
The atmosphere in the class is amazing. The fact that you are surrounded by people who have a vision and goals to achieve, pushes you to be better.
Are you involved with the study association of your programme? If so, in what way?
Yes, I am a member of ESV. I advise everyone to join this association as they organize academic events with special guests and fun activities/games with different professors from NSM.
What do you like about Nijmegen?
Nijmegen is a quiet place where wherever you walk you are surrounded by green. It also has many options for entertainment and relaxing as Nijmegen is a student city.
What would you advise students when choosing a study programme?
Choose the hard path because there is where you grow.
Make the best of your time to use whatever resources you can get to become an academic citizen.

Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Sascha Füllbrunn. I teach Behavioural and Experimental Economics & Finance and Societal Challenges in Economics and coordinate the Master's Programme. Of course, I also supervise Master Theses. I am doing research by conducting experiments in the area of (sustainable) finance and economics.
Why did you choose to study/work in this field? What makes this field so interesting?
I like interdisciplinarity, i.e., working with different disciplines while still using the economist's tool of structuring the world meaningfully.
What are you currently doing your own research on?
I am working on how people decide for others, currently in the intersection between time preferences and social preferences in an uncertain world. I also started a new direction related to sustainable finance and just hosted a conference.
What advice do you have for students making their study choice?
I see two types of students: those who simply want their degree and those who want to learn what we would call Bildung in Germany. However, you should make the best of your time to use whatever resources you can get to become an academic citizen, guided by logical thinking and evidence rather than confirmation bias and black-white thinking.
What is the best part of being a lecturer?
In particular, I run experiments in class (experiential learning) and like to see the students' faces when they realise why they gave a biased answer... so basically, a face of understanding!
