About the masterclass
Citizen participation takes many forms, from referendums to citizen forums, citizen budgets and G1000 initiatives. But they do not always work as desired. For instance, a referendum can have a polarising effect and it is not always clear what the support is for outcomes of citizens' forums. The masterclass shows how smart combinations actually increase citizen involvement and break impasses. Simulations illustrate how these forms of citizen participation are applied in practice. In small groups, participants practice putting the theoretical principles of the master class into practice. The case histories are always tailored to the practice and the challenges facing the representatives.
