Study programme

How do plants adapt to flooding or drought? What are the effects of temperature and toxicants on fish and microorganisms? The Adaptive Organisms specialisation will help you to become an expert in how organisms respond to environmental and physiological challenges.

You will take in-depth courses in molecular and integrative physiology, genomics and symbiosis, and participate in ongoing research. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced equipment, such as fluorescence microscopes and video tracking software to analyse animal behaviour, while developing a critical and analytical research mindset.

    In the first year of the specialisation you will follow five compulsory courses in the first period. You can compose the rest of the programme with specialisation and free electives, two internships, review article, research proposal and optionally a field course.

Study abroad

During your Master's programme, you will have the opportunity to go abroad for your studies, internship and/or thesis. You will learn to look at things from the perspective of a different culture and you will meet new people; it is an experience that will enrich your life.
