Career prospects

Graduates of the Master’s specialisation in Ancient and Medieval Mediterranean Worlds are able to address major questions in the development of the Mediterranean as a centre of trade, culture and religion throughout the ancient and medieval periods. Our graduates can identify the reasons behind the Mediterranean’s importance and legacy from antiquity to the present day, as an area of intense contact but also conflict, with crucial importance for understanding current developments. Besides this, they are also able to analyse historical debates and tackle problems related to reflect on the (re)presentation of historical developments.

In addition to these broad skills, our graduates have also concentrated on a number of very specific historical phenomena, how to contextualise these and acquired skills that open a broad range number of career options to them. Our specialisation has produced graduates that are appreciated by employees for their insightfulness and analytical skills. They have learned how to delve into historical documents, master their contents, and communicate their findings.

After your studies

Our graduates have found employment in public relations, industrial and public service management, librarianship, archive and museum work, teaching and lecturing and journalism.
